0:33 THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION.

Thank you, this was very informative. You answered most of my questions. I have one more though

Would the dock featured in this video add display alt mode capability to a phone that does not have it? As in, could I connect this to my phone and then connect the monitor via the dock through the other usbc port? Thanks!

I’m looking for something to charge my tablet while it is connected to my HDMI to type C. to charge and connect to my TV, which is the one I need for that? I’m seeing so many types of hubs but I don’t know which is the one I need. I just need to charge my tablet while it is connected for streaming to my TV. my complex only has satalite internet and casting to the TV and WiFi can get very jumpy, but through the type c to HDMI is wear works, but I also bed to charge my tablet while I connect to the TV, which is the best for that? I could really use some advice before I buy the wrong one. thank you in advance.

  7. @Noximien on March 6, 2025 at 1:52 pm

If 0:32 is right and a dock just has multiple connection types and no other differences, this video was helpful. Anything past that point in the video turned into an ad and my mind shut it off, so I hope I didn’t miss something.

  8. @markholle3450 on March 6, 2025 at 1:55 pm

    The difference? 30Hz.

  9. @juap on March 6, 2025 at 1:56 pm

A dock has a power charger its big, a hub is bus powered is small, period.

  10. @joecorsogames on March 6, 2025 at 1:57 pm

what happened to your beard??? Piss your wife off?

  11. @auhsojyihst9440 on March 6, 2025 at 1:59 pm

Thanks for the video. But a huge difference is that a hub generally duplicates the same signal into 2 or 3 port. That means if you plug 2 monitors to a hub, it will duplicate the same display output on all screens. I see misleading sellers marketing hubs like dock stations. A duck station on the otherside will talk to your OS and give you more independent display port. For example a computer with only one USB C display port, can generate 3 new ports and you can plug 3 monitors on the docker and have each screen displaying it own output from other

I’ll be asking this in comments to a few videos about USB hubs and docks.

I’ll be using this with my tower PC so I can have on my desk a couple of USB A ports and a USB C port to provide charging and data transfer to my phone.

I’ve got a 100 Watt charger to power the hub through the PD USB C port they all seem to have.

Obviously, I don’t need power delivered to my PC.

Will my PC have any issue with a powered hub connected to it’s USB C all the time?

The 7 year old PC’s motherboard is an MSI X370 Gaming Pro Carbon.

    Thanks

Can you recommend a hub or a solution that has a Thunderbolt 2 input /output (used with my G Technology 4TB external drive) and SD card input.that works with high speed SD cards..(my 2013 iMac has built in ports for these connectors and I am looking at buying a M3 iMac.

  18. @Bearsarecats on March 6, 2025 at 2:03 pm

Great video, and I got the point very quickly. Could be a bit brighter where you’re recording though haha

Anyone still left around this comment, can you tell me if a docking station(targus to be specific) is my remedy to mirror my phone to non smart tv? No wifi, no subscription, just plug and play. I don’t like latency from bluetooth and wifi. Mhl support is a pain to find, so my mhl cable is becoming less useful

Can I connect an SD card to the SD card port and a Hard drive to the USB port and transfer files from SD card to Hard drive directly?

  23. @lexiriam on March 6, 2025 at 2:13 pm

Great video. My question that I haven’t been able to find an answer to is, "Does connecting one or more external storage drive get compromised when connected to a hub/dock due to having so many other peripherals sharing the same 1 connector to the machine?" If anyone can provide me that answer, I would appreciate it. My concern is that my data gets corrupted or lagged as other devices try to communicate with the machine at the same time.

Hello! Does anyone know whether a dock uses the laptop’s gpu to power the connected 4k monitors? (windows user here)

  25. @CFJob on March 6, 2025 at 2:14 pm

A Docking Station with WiFi connectivity to the internet and wireless connection to the laptop would be handy.
    Is there such a beast?

I wanna connect a webcam, capture card, and microphone to my Mac. I also need an ethernet and a hdmi. I think I need a powered hub because of all the devices. Which ‘powered ‘hub can I buy that has a minimum of: 3 usb, 1 ethernet and 1 hdmi? Im searching for a long time but I don’t really have the knowledge so a reaction would help very much 🙂

  39. @nedimpocket on March 6, 2025 at 2:25 pm

What about having hub with external power and be able to connect two 2.5" hdd. I it possible or there is some kind of conflict with pc and how usb works.

    Best option for m1 mac?

  41. @sonicmastersword8080 on March 6, 2025 at 2:27 pm

    Docks: All-in-one, less ports
Hubs: Requires more setup but more ports and customization options when in use.
